Financing

We believe in transparency and understand how important it is for patients to have an idea about fees upfront. Consultation fees are $100 and will be applied to your balance if you schedule a surgery within 6 months. Appointments canceled with less than 24 hours notice will forfeit the prepaid consultation fee. We require a non-refundable 20% deposit to schedule surgery, with the remaining balance due 2 weeks prior to surgery.

Your surgery quote includes several parts:

  1. Surgeon’s Fee: Dr. Kulkarni’s fee to perform the surgery
  2. Anesthesia Fee: Anesthesiologist fee (charged by time)
  3. Facility Fee: Surgery center fee that covers the operating room and all the supplies (charged by time)
  4. Special Equipment: Breast Implants, Keller Funnel, Vaser Liposuction, etc

Additional fees that may be billed after surgery include pathology for any specimens we are required to send (usually breast tissue), and any additional time for anesthesia/ facility that is beyond our estimated time.

Insurance

DC Plastic Surgery Boutique does not participate with insurance. We are out of network for all insurances. This means that if you have a surgery that can be billed to insurance, we collect fees up front and you submit a claim to your insurance company for reimbursement after surgery. If you have out-of-network benefits and your claim is covered, any reimbursement would go directly to you.

Breast reduction surgery is the most common surgery for which patients inquire about insurance coverage. Most insurance companies use an objective criteria (the weight of the breast tissue removed during surgery) to determine whether breast reduction is medically necessary. Based on your physical exam, Dr. Kulkarni can give you an idea of whether or not you might meet insurance criteria. The amount of tissue to be removed is determined by each insurance company, but may range from 300-1500 grams per side. Many insurance companies also take your height and weight (BMI) into account and use the Schnur scale to determine the amount of tissue to be removed. If you have questions about insurance qualification for breast reduction, please do not hesitate to ask at your consultation and we can guide you.
